As Ankara prepares to host Iraqi President Ibrahim Jaferi today, the Ministers' Council yesterday discussed the latest events in Iraq, with Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul briefing top level government ministers on recent developments in both Iraq and Iran. According to official sources, Gul relayed concerns that violence between Shiites and Sunnis in neighboring Iraq was fast dragging the country into a civil war.
