Fantasy trap for rapist

A young woman invites a rapist to her hotel room seeking revenge. She tells him she wants to “fantasise”, then strangles him with her belt. A scene bearing great resemblance to one of the most striking scenes in the film, Basic Instinct, starring Sharon Stone, was relived in room 203 in a hotel in Hagia Sophia, Istanbul. According to 24 year-old Fatma Ceylan, the scene unfolded in the following way: The perpetrator recorded the rape on his mobile telephone says Ceylan, “35 year-old Ali Can Gavaz, a minibus driver in Keshan, raped me and filmed the scene on his mobile phone. I left the town and went to Istanbul in shame. He started threatening me, saying, ‘I’ll spread the images on the internet if you don’t sleep with me again’.”
Revenge through rape
“I invited him to Istanbul on the first day of the Eid holiday. We met up and wondered around Istanbul. That evening we returned to the hotel. I asked for the recording but he would not give it to me. So I told him I wanted to fantasise. ‘Let me rape you too, and we can call it quits’, I told him. He accepted and I tied his hands with the cords from the curtains.”
Turned herself in to the police
“Gavaz was laying face-down and I sat on his back. I took the shoulder-strap off my bag and wrapped it around his neck, and asked for the images on the mobile phone. When he said he did not have them, I tied two knots in the strap and strangled him by tightening it. Following this, I returned to Keshan and turned myself in”
