Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, speaking at a press conference prior to his departure for Pakistan, responded to a reporter's question about the urgent Rectors Meeting called by the Board of Higher Education (YOK) in reaction to the recent arrest of Van University's rector Professor Askin. Said Erdogan, "As you know, the earthquake in Pakistan is on our agenda right now. However, I do think it would be much more helpful for our country if everyone knew what their position and responsibilities required of them."
