Ramazan censureship rejected in Erzurum

A billboard advertisement in Erzurum has become the center of unexpected attention this Ramazan. The young woman pictured in the advertisement is wearing a red leather jacket and matching mini-skirt, revealing much skin, though not completely naked. Local residents, complaining that the image was inappropriate for the month of Ramazan, took it upon themselves to cover the young woman's knees and chest with black paint, thus blocking out the offending parts of her body.
Reaction followed swiftly from owners of the clothing line, as well as from the ad agency responsible for the billboard, both of whom said that they did not condone the black paint-out. Yesterday, a new ad without the black paint was put back up, restoring the original image.
