An Australian court has ruled in favour of not deporting a Turkish man due to his state of mental health. Ali Beyazkilinc, 45 years old, has spent two years in an Australian detention center and was due to be deported today, however, due to his mental state of health, which is said to be unstable, the Federal Court in Adelaide has blocked the deportation of the man.

But late last night Justice John Mansfield granted a temporary injunction preventing his forced removal, saying it would cause serious deterioration in his mental condition.

Fear arose after 140 seats had been booked on the flight to Istanbul to buffer the general public from the man.

Psychiatrist Dr Jon Jureidini assessed Mr Beyazkilinc by video link yesterday afternoon, and told the court that Mr Beyazkilinc was suffering a serious depression and anxiety disorder that would put himself and others at risk of harm if he was deported, reported ABC online edition.
