Clashes erupted Wednesday at the funeral of a protester killed during a rally organized by the pro-Kurdish DTP in the Dogubeyazit district of Agri province, Dogan News Agency (DHA) reported. (UPDATED)

Ahmet Ozkan, 26, was killed Monday during a rally organized by the Democratic Society Party (DTP) after clashes erupted between police protestors in Dogubeyazit.

Tension has been high in the region on claims made by the DTP that Abdullah Ocalan, the imprisoned leader of the terror organization PKK, had been mistreated in Imrali prison where he is serving a life sentence, which sparked mass demonstrations that turned violent in the mainly-Kurdish southeastern regions.

In an eastern province of Turkey, a march organized by the DTP members regarding the claims turned into a propaganda demonstration for the terrorist organization, PKK, DHA reported on Wednesday.

DTP members carrying banners marched on the offices of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in the Batman province.

The protesters shouted slogans in support of the PKK and Ocalan, DHA reported. They disbanded after laying a wreath in front of the AKP building, it added.
