The thermometers in front of the Antalya Governor's offices yesterday showed 50 C, or 122 F, which, combined with a humidity reading of 86%, meant that city streets were empty through the day. Though afternoon temperatures showed a humidity level of 15%, yesterday went on record as Antalya's hottest day of the year.

Governor Assistant Bekir Sitki Hanlioglu noted that there was no particular heat level upon which citizens would be warned, but said that "as far as the city leadership is concerned, work cannot go on at these temperatures."
