Turkey will play host to a critical European Union Troika meeting today. This is the first such meeting since Dec. 17, the day the European Council agreed to start accession talks on Oct. 3. EU Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn, Denis mac Shane, the British state minister for EU affairs and the foreign minister of EU term-president Luxemburg, Jean Asselborn are expected to put pressure on Ankara to recognize all new member states, including the Greek Cypriot government.

Turkey is expected to sign a protocol for the expanded European states, but are adamant that this action does not give sovereignty to the Greek Cypriot government in Turkish Cyprus.
