Gul apparently added that "if it goes on like this, it will be very difficult for us to come to October 3." With one week left to go before the official start to the accession talks for Turkey, the call by FM Gul to England in order to relay Ankara's displeasure and discomfort at all the late additions to the Framework Documents was a significant one.
The Ankara delegation to the accession talks is planning to depart Turkey for Luxembourg on Sunday. They will reportedly wait until the last minute for late breaking developments on the Frameworks Document. It is seen as likely that the delegation will put off plans to leave for Luxembourg if the Framework Documents does not lift the phrase "privileged partnership" from its lines, and if it does not lift the Greek Cypriot authority's right to veto Turkish participation in international meetings. The other aspect of the Framework Document which could stop the Turkish delegation from lifting off from Ankara would be a requirement for Turkey to open its sea and airports in the near future to the Greek Cypriot authority.
