The farmer who engaged Prime Minister in a dialogue which was publicized all over Turkey this week has announced that he is not going to take the Prime Minister to court after all for "insulting speech." In reference to the weekend incident in Mersin, citrus fruit farmer Kemal Oncel, "my approach was wrong, and I apologize." PM Erdogan and Oncel had spoken in harsh terms to one another, and Oncel had come away from the dialogue castigating PM Erdogan for using street jargon and argot in addressing him.

In a press conference held yesterday, Oncel said that Erdogan's statement earlier this week in reference to the incident that he had "come up empty-handed at that moment" which is why he had spoken to Oncel in that way was enough for him. Said Oncel, "I am gratified to hear the Prime Minister say this, and I kiss his hand. He is my senior. Whoever sits in his seat (the prime ministerial seat) I respect." When asked by a reporter why he had decided to pass up on a case against Erdogan, Oncel said "Yesterday is yesterday, today is today."
