Several members of Ali Agca's family have started a hunger strike in protest of his return to prison in Turkey. Agca had been released during the Bayram holiday but arrested and sent back to prison last week, after the Supreme Court of Appeals ruled that he should serve eight more years for the killing of prominent Turkish journalist Abdi Ipekci in 1979.

Fifteen members of the Agca family including his sister Fatma Yildirim started their hunger strike till death on Wednesday.

Fatma Yildirim told the A.A, ''we want justice. Otherwise we will die.''

''First they released him from prison. Then, they arrested him again. It is meaningless. We are unable to meet our lawyer. His mother is very ill and dying. We hold the justice minister responsible for all these,'' she said.
